Roomies

So, I said I would update when I found roommates - and, hark!  I've found some!

I posted on the Facebook page for my Arrival Date (February 3rd) and said that I was looking for someone to live with for wellness in Spring Advantage last week, and I got messages from three different groups of people who were interested in seeing my survey within a day!  I ended up choosing to go with the first group who contacted me - three other girls who all want to live in Patterson, too.  They're all really, really sweet!  We decided to do some sort of skype-ish chat thing last Saturday evening and it seems like we're all going to get along really well <3

Conclusion: There's nothing scary at all about finding roommates for the Disney College Program - and now I'm more excited than ever to get down there and meet everyone in person!!!

I also did some not-so-fun un-enrolling stuff.  I got my housing and meal plan refunded for next semester, which was kind of a bother, but so worth it!  Now I don't have anything to worry about until the program but, well, waiting for the program! (and also finals and moving out of the dorm and packing for six months in florida and dying of anticipation)

Anyway, I hope you're all having an absolutely magical day!

P.S. - ONLY 75 DAYS LEFT!!!!!

"Welcome to the Team!"

That's right!  As of last Saturday evening, I am officially a CP!!!  I could not be more excited for all of the amazing adventures waiting for me at WDW <3

So, a little about accepting your offer: the process was painless, but still a little nerve-wracking.  I accepted my offer, and within half an hour I received an email asking me to submit my program fees.  After I did that, it took less than a half an hour to receive an email inviting me to select my program dates, but here's where things got sticky.  They didn't have any arrival dates open for Attractions Cast Members!!!  I panicked and randomly selected one of the other ones, figuring it would be better to have to reschedule than to have my offer expire.  As it turns out, that was a good decision!  I read something yesterday evening about someone who didn't select a date because there weren't any available for his role and whose offer expired - he had to jump through a ton of hoops to get back into the program, and I'm not even sure if he was successful.

Anyway, I called someone and there wasn't anything she could do but tell me to reschedule and email recruiting if that didn't work.  So I rescheduled and - bet you didn't see this one coming - there still weren't any Attractions dates!!!  I just selected the same date I already had and then emailed the address. This afternoon I received a third "Welcome to the Team!" email (they send you one after you select your program dates), and since I didn't try to reschedule today, I'm just going to assume that means I'm still going to arrive on February 3rd!

An aside: as my school, sophomores had registration on Monday, and the protocol for going to the DCP is just not to register.  And I PANICKED when my registration time passed and I didn't click that little "Register" button!!!  I don't know why, but I guess on some level I was freaked out that something would go horribly wrong and I wouldn't be able to go to the DCP /or/ come back to UNC next semester!  Silly, I know. :End aside

After accepting my offer, I joined a couple of Facebook groups - and, let me just tell you, the CPs of S/SA 2014 are an active group of people!  My newsfeed is almost entirely filled up with CP stuff now. Not that I'm complaining - we're going to have so much fun! :)

I think that's about all for now.  My current quest is to find a roommate (or three).  Wish me luck!  I'm sure I'll update when I have one!!

I hope everyone is having a magical day! <3 Only 82 days until I leave!!

Acceptance

you guys you guys you guys AS OF YESTERDAY AT 3:16 PM I HAVE OFFICIALLY BEEN ACCEPTED AS A PARTICIPANT FOR THE 2014 SPRING ADVANTAGE DISNEY COLLEGE PROGRAM AS A CAST MEMBER OH MY GOODNESS I CANNOT EVEN I AM UNABLE LITERALLY TO EVEN I WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO EVEN WHAT THIS IS AMAZING!!!!!

Attractions wasn't my first choice, but I'm still SO excited!  This is literally a dream come true - to think that I might have the opportunity to become a part of the magic that is Disney World for an entire six months makes me feel so special and fortunate!!  All that's left is to accept my offer, pay the fees, and then choose an arrival date and start the countdown.  It all feels so surreal!  I still have to present the case to my parents, but hopefully they'll be as pro-DCP as I am <3  I have been so blessed to be given this opportunity! either that or lucky but we'll go with blessed because i don't want to jinx it

I shall keep you guys updated as much as possible during the countdown and the actual program.  I'M JUST SO EXCITED!!!

Have a magical day - I know I am!

The Beginning of My Journey

Hello, all!  Eileen here.  Just thought I should give a quick overview of the blog for anyone who might accidentally stumble upon it.  This blog is dedicated to my (hopeful) journey through the Disney College Program (2014 Spring/Spring Advantage).  It's really mostly for my friends and family (as well as past, current, and hopeful participants) to keep up with what I'm doing and to see what goes on in the life of a CP (College Program participant).

So, it occurred to me yesterday, as I was creating the username and all that jazz, that this blog might end up being moot, because I haven't even heard back from the DCP yet.  I applied on Tuesday night and was asked to complete the WBI within two hours of submitting my application.  Within an hour of my completing the WBI, I was asked to schedule the phone interview, which I completed on Thursday.  The interviewer was really friendly and laughed a lot and gave me the impression that I'd be a good fit for all three of my top choices (BBB/PL hostess, Merchandise, and Attractions).  The odds sound pretty good, right?

Well, this week they were also taking applications for extensions from students who are participating in the 2013 Fall/Fall Advantage program, so I guess they're being bombarded.  Actually, most of the reason I'm posting today is to talk about how nervous I am.  I literally check my emails and the status of my application whenever I'm at my computer.  The anticipation is KILLING ME!!!!!!!  All I want is to know if I'm going to be able to have the experience of a lifetime working at Disney for a semester.  Is that too much to ask for?

Apparently.

I'll keep you guys updated - hopefully with positive news very, very soon!

Have a magical day!
